About Theatre de la feuille:

The tree sprouts from the ground, and at this moment life begins. Later, leaves grow from the tree, and though they may become yellow and die and fall to the ground, eventually they will again give themselves to the earth to continue and support the circle of life. Thus, the leaf contains all of life, but in contrast to the tree, the leaf is light, mobile, flexible: she shivers with the wind, she bends under the rain, and she supports the little caterpillar that gently crawls across her in the search of a place to become a butterfly.  And after death, she intermingles her parts and disappears into the soil and the grass and the roots of the tree, and she nourishes them. In this way the leaf is much like the theater, that is so diaphanous, so ephemeral that it dies in the same moment it is born, and yet we do it again and again and birth this art over and over again. Its life cycle too, is continuous.

-In our theatre, we devote ourselves to a performance that returns to this essence of theatre, located in the bodies of the actors. We use only the natural body and empty space to search for the most basic forms of human expression. When we discover this basic relationship between the human body and the space that surrounds it, we attain the state of “zen,” or the state in which the body transcends its material limitations. We emphasize so much a nonverbal vocabulary. In transcending expression that is weighed down by cultural specificity, we want to create a space where we can liberate performers’ imaginations from their specific contexts and habits, where we invent a strong and long-lasting foundation for international collaboration.
